Know what world-class imagery should look like.
Not merely impressive output. Professional visual quality, consistency and storytelling.
Three things rarely exist in one executive: an understanding of what world-class imagery should look like, deep knowledge of how major productions actually get made, and firsthand experience of what happens when emerging technology meets real directors, artists, crews, executives, schedules, budgets and delivery requirements.
I am Shawn Eric Lovette. I bring 25 years of hands-on experience across VFX, CGI animation, previsualization, live-action production, on-set supervision, post and final delivery—and apply that judgment to the adoption, evaluation and implementation of generative AI.
Not merely impressive output. Professional visual quality, consistency and storytelling.
Departments, approvals, previs, cameras, VFX, artists, executives, schedules and delivery.
Where it creates value, where it creates risk, what should remain human-led, and what can scale.
My career was not built around one software package or one job title. It was built by repeatedly understanding new tools deeply enough to turn them into better creative, production and strategic decisions.
Traditional art gave me the foundation: composition, perspective, color, form, value, light and visual storytelling.
Broadcast CGI changed the medium. Feature animation changed the scale. Previsualization moved decisions earlier. On-set VFX made those decisions immediate. Unreal made them real-time. Generative AI changes the relationship between imagination and execution again.
The technology changed repeatedly. The requirement for judgment did not.
Lighting. Composition. Lensing. Materials. Motion. Performance. Continuity. Animation. Compositing. Artifacts. Story clarity. Finishing. The difference between technically possible and production-ready.
Development. Previs. Layout. Production design. Camera. On-set VFX. Animation. Visual effects. Editorial. Post. Studio approvals. Final delivery. AI has to enter a real system, not an abstract pipeline diagram.
Should we use it? Where? Why? What is the creative upside? The financial impact? The risk? Can it scale? What must remain controllable? What will artists and directors trust?
Define where AI creates real value across development, previs, production, VFX, post and delivery—and where it does not.
Connect emerging AI technology with filmmakers, production organizations, product teams and executive decision-makers.
Move generative systems from experimentation into repeatable, controllable workflows that can withstand real production demands.
Establish professional visual-quality standards, failure taxonomies and evaluation criteria for generative image and video systems.
Guide leadership, artists and production teams through implementation while protecting creative intent, trust and reliability.
Help AI companies understand what professional entertainment customers actually need from creative AI products.
Solving difficult sequences visually with filmmakers before principal photography and expensive downstream decisions.
Actors, rigs, lenses, crews, schedules—and decisions that must work immediately.
Writing, directing, producing and creating the CGI: responsibility across the entire creative result.
I learned the standard inside a production whose artists and filmmakers created an Academy Award-winning animated feature.
I contributed to Happy Feet at Animal Logic, including early layout work with George Miller. The Academy Award moment is not used here as nostalgia. It is evidence of the professional visual standard that informs how I judge emerging AI systems today.
I described working beside directors before principal photography, using 3D visualization to solve complex sequences, reduce costly surprises and hand VFX teams a clear target.
Traditional art, broadcast graphics, CGI feature animation, previs, on-set VFX, Unreal and now generative AI.
An early career built by learning new visual technology deeply enough to create at the highest level.
Academy Award-winning CGI animated feature; early layout work with George Miller.
Worked at Skywalker Ranch with George Lucas during development of the first all-CGI Star Wars television production.
Eight months on location leading previs artists and contributing hands-on previs for Matt Reeves.
Worked directly with producer David Ellison during production.
The next stage of a career built around translating new production technologies into professional creative decisions.
For organizations building an internal capability around generative media, creative technology, AI production or visual intelligence.
For AI companies, studios and production organizations that need senior production judgment without immediately creating a permanent executive role.
For organizations determining how generative AI changes professional visual production. My role is not simply to operate the newest tool. It is to help determine what the tool should do, where it belongs, what quality means, how it integrates with real production, and how leadership turns technological capability into creative and business value.
